YWeb’s leaders share a commitment to educating and inspiring students, to helping them discover their talents and explore their futures. Our team comes from a broad variety of backgrounds, and their diverse experiences have led them to becoming the passionate, focused, deeply involved professionals they are today.
Julia Block, the YWeb Coordinator, is here to help students succeed. She is the go-to-woman for organization, team building, and employability skills. She has a diverse background in Case Management; she has over 20 years of experience working with people of all backgrounds, ages, and orientations. She has experience dealing with the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), and she has worked with people dealing with homelessness, mental illness, and refugee status. She approaches life with integrity, transparency, and open communication. She loves seeing the transformation each student undergoes within the YWeb program—she lives for the opportunity to watch the students of YWeb grow and transform into working professionals. In her free time you can catch her working on DIY projects or hanging out with her dog.
Rasheid Atlas, the instructor, is a life-long designer and artist. He has worked all over the United States; and has been in the digital and spatial industry for nearly 20 years. He brings knowledge, honesty, integrity, humility, and dignity to his job each day. He has experience in front-end design, animation, back-end programming, and development. From start to finish, Rasheid has been a part of the process. This all gives him a unique ability to teach students in a diverse way—preparing them for the real world of technology and design. His favorite part of working with YWeb is watching students change their lives, and the lives of their families. He inspires them to be motivated and innovative.
Yaminique Brown serves as the Placement & Retention Coordinator for the YWCA Madison. In this position, she recruits companies, maintains partnerships & relationships with employers, for the purpose of developing a pipeline of employment for clients served. Yaminique also provides assistance to program graduates in the areas of job placement, mentoring, career-ladder planning, wage negotiation, and continuing education. In addition, Yaminique enjoys helping individuals to identify their ideal careers and empowering them to make career changes.
Each student who completes the program enters a paid internship. If your company takes on interns, that would be a wonderful way for the students to put their new skills and experience to use.
