One of the things I will be take away from the YWeb Career Academy is that getting out of my comfort zone is necessary in order to accomplish new things. I think is very general to say but it applies to almost every aspect of my life. I tend to get to comfortable with anything that I’m currently doing and I hesitate a great deal to try new things and take chances. Before the starting the YWeb Career Academy, l had one semester left to finish the liberal arts program at MATC and I had no idea what I wanted to continue to study. Now as graduation day approaches, I realize that I have a passion for design and that I really want to become part of the the growing tech industry in Madison. My plan is to continue to apply to internships to build on the skills that I have learned over the past 3 months and I am confident that I want to pursue a bachelors in computer science. I will also take away the knowledge and resources that were given to me to continue to build on my design skills on my own, knowing that it might take a while before landing an internship, I will use this time to keep making designs on sketch and building websites on wordpress. I also plan on using free code camp and code academy to sharpen my tech skills and stand out during future interviews. I knew very little about the tech industry going into this program and I am thankful that it opened my eyes to all the different careers within this field and the level of creativity that is expected.
